Fellowship for the Month of November

In Rotary Club of Ormoc, we nurture friendship thru fellowships in order for us to be more united in serving humanity.

Last November 22, 2019, Rotarians and spouses gathered at President Elect Residence in Dolores Ormoc for its long overdue fellowship. It is BYOP and everybody seems to enjoy each other's company. Humba, crabs, buwad, beef, lumpia, rhapsody, buko salad and a lot more filled the stomach of RCO's members and spouses.

Distribution of Toiletries to Sumangga Elementary Students

Rotary Club of Ormoc led by the November Group helps reinforce among Sumangga Students the importance of good personal hygiene. The Club requested representatives from City Health Office under the supervision of PP Jerry Chiong to talk about proper hand washing last November 22, 2019.

The club also  distributed basic toiletries like soap, nail cutter, toothbrush and toothpaste to all Sumangga Students. Thanks to the generous sponsor/donor power Couple Dondon and Derlie Chua.

Rtn Dielserg's family helped in packing all these items for distribution.

The club also donated liquid hand soap to the school to be placed in the school's toilets for students' use.

Feeding and Distribution of Nutripack to Malnourished Students of Sumangga Elementary School

Rotary Club of Ormoc, championed by November Group, conducted their last feeding activity for the month of November last November 22, 2019. The club coordinated with the City Health Office thru Dr. Jerry Chiong, city doctor and at the same time an active Rotarian, to help address the malnutrition problem in the school. The club distributed 16 NUTRIPACKS to malnourished students in the said school through the City Health Office.

Teachers and parents who cooked spaghetti for the students, added NUTRIPACK as ingredient.

The attendance  was record high as it was announced that Rotary Club of Ormoc is serving ice cream for the students. Sumangga Elementary School is an adopted school of the club.  It is observed that every Friday, significant number of students don't attend class anymore thus feeding program with full of surprises for the students might help increase attendance.

Special thanks to all Rotarians and spouses of November group for all the support. Rtn Randy Chu for sponsoring 1 tube of ice cream, Power Couple Rtns Dondon and Derlie Chua for donating toiletries and books, Feeding Head Rocel Baclayon, Rtn Delserg and Spouse Gigi for packing the toiletries, Rtn Ian and spouse Grace for coordinating the ice cream order, District Officer Joel Ngo for his tireless effor in scooping ice cream  for students and PE Erwin Into for the financial support. Every member of the group contributed to the success of this project.

Immediately after Typhoon Haiyan (Yolanda), Rotary Clubs, Rotarians and friends around the world expressed their desire to provide immediate assistance in terms of money, food, clothing, medicine, water and other relief goods to help alleviate the condition of the victims in Visayas. However, there was no centralized point for Rotary communication and coordination to receive, distribute and account for such donations, as well as lead a strategic unified relief operations in the affected areas.

Thus, the Help & Assistance for Rotary Philippine Districts, Inc., or Rotary Helps Philippines, was organized and registered with the Philippine Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) as a non-stock, non-profit corporation specifically to receive donations and undertake relief, reconstruction work and other humanitarian assistance services in areas affected by natural calamities or man-made disasters, on behalf of Rotarians, friends and other donors.
